Project Status

During the period from Jan 1st through April 1st the Banner project completed four Banner module GO LIVE implementations. In January 2011, the Banner Finance and Banner Human Resources (HR) modules moved into production and are now being used by the KSU Finance and Human Resources offices on campus. With this implementation came the move back onto campus of the management of the KSU employee payroll processes by the Finance staff. Additionally, the HR office introduced a new Web Time Entry System which supports the collection and management of employee time, sick and leave activities for KSU employees. The Finance and HR offices offered Banner training to the campus community during Jan and February for the use of the system and its impact to campus activities.

During the latter part of February the Banner Financial Aid (FA) module went into production. The KSU FA office was then prepared to conduct KSU student financial aid processes and begin the student loan awards selection and distribution for the fall 2011 KSU semester. The FA office staff completed the Banner Web for Financial Aid self service for student initiation of the financial aid process. This feature will be turned on for KSU student use during mid April 2011 and the FA office will be using Banner after the student data is loaded.

In March the Banner Student System data conversion portion of the project was completed. This activity moved student data from the legacy system into Banner for use during the April registration period. All student data minus the spring 2011 and summer 2011 semesters is located in Banner. This work, which is Phase I, will be followed by a Phase II which will include moving the final two semesters of student data into Banner during August 2011. All student academic data will be moved into Banner at this time. Faculty members have been trained about the features and functions of Banner and how they will interact with the new system. Students will be contacted and notified about the changes they will see with Banner and how they will use the system to obtain their student data.
