Kentucky State University

Banner Conversion Projects

Kentucky State University is in the process of implementing a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The SunGard Higher Education Plus system, which has been used by the university since 1986, will no longer be supported in the coming years. KSU has therefore partnered again with SunGard Higher Education to replace the Plus system with the more current Banner system, an integrated administrative information system that combines student records, financial aid, financial records, human resource management and payroll.

The Banner project began on campus in February 2009, and conversion efforts will continue in phases through 2010. We are scheduled to launch all modules of the new system by early 2011. At the end of the conversion phase, faculty and staff will be trained on the new system.

This effort continues the university’s goal of updating our technology to enhance the delivery of a quality education and to improve services to the campus community. The Banner project presents the opportunity to gain greater efficiencies in the use of our resources and to better facilitate accountability. Many of our colleagues are working hard to migrate data from the Plus system to the new Banner system, in addition to their normal responsibilities. I ask for the support of all faculty and staff in this university-wide effort, which will impact virtually every aspect of the university.

I encourage you to use this Web site to view updates and other information as we move to launch Banner in 2011.
